The recipe for resolving the myriad issues that employees have been stewing about can be masterfully created with two essential ingredients: a strong leader with a vision and an open-minded team of employees. The bible reminds us that “Without a vision, the people perish.” There are many spiritual nuggets in the Book of Proverbs, but this one is apropos.Read More
Are you thirsty?
I’m not talking about getting more fluids in your body. I’m referring to something deeper than that.Read More
God speaks to each of us whether we are listening or not. Have you ever heard from Him? I believe I have. In my experience, God often speaks to us in a time, in a place, and in a way that we don’t expect.Read More
Teaching our children to be thankful is not easy. One of our default modes for this as parents is to lecture our kids about all they have. This lecture method, even though it’s words are true, is not as effective as many of us would like. Perhaps that is because giving thanks isn’t based on how much we have. The versus below talk about giving thanks in EVERYTHING.Read More
The past few days, I've gone back to listening to the music that I've downloaded, rather than the radio. And let me tell you, these songs are 8+ years old, and songs that many have probably forgotten about by now. But nonetheless, it was cool to hear songs that I hadn't heard in a while.
Memories flooded my head and all the lyrics I thought I had forgotten suddenly came back to me.
And then I heard a song that really hit home again...Read More
At least three times a day in my kindergarten classroom, I have students that either come up to me or raise their hand, and after I say, "Yes, what do you need?", they either just stand there looking at me, point their foot at me, or hold up something.
I know exactly what they need, I just look at them and say, "What do you need from me"?Read More
Having fun, meeting new people, growing in God’s word—that’s what this ministry is all about! I had the privilege of chatting with the leader of The Mix, Chanda Corbett, to get the scoop on how she got involved in this ministry and what it has to offer!Read More
Prayer is vital to our Christian life. Prayer is our line of communication with God. Most relationships break down when communication fails. Helping children learn to have a conversation with God like He is in the room with them (because He is) is a powerful thing.

We are in the midst of a series of Parent Posts on spiritual disciplines. This week we are focusing on helping your child learn the bible. This is the discipline of Bible study and memorization. Today I want to give you a few thoughts to help you parent your kids in a way that they are encouraged to know the Bible and then give you a few resources that might be helpful.

Spiritual disciplines are important to our growth spiritually. They play an important part in a young persons spiritual journey as well. Spiritual disciplines are not about earning or proving to God that we deserve the salvation we have freely received from Him. Instead, spiritual disciplines are about creating habits in our lives that point our souls toward God. Left to ourselves we naturally drift from God. Spiritual disciplines give us guidance as we seek to grow and mature.

I recently heard a pastor say that sometimes there is hurt in the healing. The same can be said of growing pains. What growing pains? The choice to remove my mask and to embrace my vulnerability. The decision to slow down, to get quiet, and to reflect on my past (no matter how painful) so that I could learn from my mistakes and heal from them. It was stepping out of my comfort zone. It was learning to forgive and to accept myself.

Hurt. Pain. Confusion. They’re all things that can make us have doubt. Doubt in ourselves, doubt in our future, doubt in our faith— we can face many challenges when doubt arises. However, it is up to us to remain faithful in our God, and know that we are forever in His hands.
Kelly Cody, a Bridgeway attendee since April of 2014, has had quite the journey— and an amazing story. I had the privilege of sitting down with her one morning in a busy Starbucks. Although there was a ton of commotion around us, I was hanging on to her every word as she shared her testimony with me.
“I look at things through a different perspective now, and I see that everything that we go through is for a reason,” she said. “Even in the most horrific situation, there IS glory in it. And because my story is so traumatic, it has to be to save others—to help, to heal, and to restore them. I know this is what my purpose is.”Read More
This Year’s Parent Post Theme: Parents/Guardians are the primary discipler of their child. There is no better time than Christmas to talk about the presence of God in your child’s everyday life. Immanuel means, God is with us. That is just as true everyday of your child’s life as was back on that day that Christ was born in Bethlehem.Read More
Several years ago I heard a pastor tell his congregation that the act of love is your willingness to inconvenience yourself for someone else. In this self-centered, “selfie-centered” world we live in, that couldn’t be truer.Read More
“Take a breather.” “Stay calm.” “Take it easy.” “Slow down.”
These are all sayings that I constantly have to keep reminding myself of. But if you’re anything like me, you’ll find it just a little bit difficult. Why? Because life happens.
Responsibilities after responsibilities. Commitments after commitments. Back to back classes. Stressful work weeks. Rushing to get from one place to another in a short amount of time. Needless to say, life can get pretty busy, and seem extremely fast pace. In these times it’s good to remind ourselves….Read More

Every year when fall comes around, I think to myself, "Time for me to get some new boots!" They're my FAVORITE. To me, the boots complete the whole fall "look". You can throw on a nice comfy sweater and a pair of jeans, but a pair of boots can really tie it all together.Read More
Romans8:15-17(MSG) This resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life. It’s adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike “What’s next, Papa?” God’s Spirit touches our spirits and confirms who we really are. We know who he is, and we know who we are: Father and children. And we know we are going to get what’s coming to us—an unbelievable inheritance!Read More
