Do You Believe In Miracles?
Or do you believe that miracles are events that happened back in Bible times but not so much anymore? And do you believe you can experience a miracle in your own life?
A miracle is defined as an effect or extraordinary event in the physical world that surpasses all known human or natural powers and is ascribed to a supernatural cause. In other words, a miracle is an event that happens that's so incredible and amazing that the only explanation for it is a supernatural force, i.e. God.
There are many examples of miracles in the Bible: Moses parting the Red Sea, Daniel coming out of the lions' den unharmed, David defeating Goliath with a rock and a sling, not to mention all of the miracles Jesus himself performed. But I believe that miracles do still happen. I believe it because I've lived it and I've seen it.
As far back as I can remember, I had the desire to be married. For a long time in my life, it looked like it was never going to happen. In January of 2012, I realized that I was trying to make my dream happen on my own and I wasn't nurturing the most important relationship in my life; my relationship with God. I spent the next few months completely focused on the Lord. Through books, prayer, and reading the Bible, my faith became so strong that I was convinced that God would orchestrate my "miracle", even though there wasn't anyone in the picture at all.
On the 4th of July, 2012, Matt and I went on our first date. On New Years Eve of 2012, we got engaged and on June 29th, 2013, we got married. The entire story of our relationship has God written all over it. It's nothing we could have made happen ourselves. It was a miracle.
My mother is another miracle. She has dealt with severe anxiety and depression since 2000 but after a couple years of things being stable, we believed the worst was over. Then New Years of this year, mom was admitted into the hospital after a horrible anxiety attack. She stayed there for 12 days and then came home. Between the end of January to the end of May, there would be two more hospital stays and many sad, scary and hopeless days. But God IS a healer. The doctors were able to regulate her medication and today I'm overjoyed to say mom is doing extremely well. She is back to herself. After the hell she has been through, the fact that she has her peace and joy back is nothing short of a miracle.

The last thing I want to share is this verse. I hope it encourages you, as it has encouraged me.
Ephesians 3:20-21 NIV "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen."
May we have the audacity to believe that God can and desires to perform miracles in our lives.
